  1. Watched a little of a qualifier.
Reminded me of when I bought FIFA 2002 and was trying to learn the controls.

  2. So boring & predictable that besides Canada matches, they put USA matches on CTV.

While the best matchups of the first round are actually France vs England, Germany vs Norway & Japan vs Switzerland. This will also expose kids & coaches how football styles differ across countries vs simply watching the dump & chase style of the athletic Americans.

    • France vs England is at 1 pm on a Tuesday, kids will be at school.

    • Yeah I plan on attending the France-England match if I can.

I think many would argue that US-Sweden is a pretty big match. The reason why some matches are on CTV is due to conflicts on TSN anyway (with the NBA Finals on June 16 for example. Same for the June 20/21 games with the US Open golf on TSN.

      • I agree US vs Sweden is the top group stage match but I didn’t mention it because it is on CTV.

For those who want to sample some of the matches, here are the top 10 group stage matches

        1. Canada vs China (opening match)
        2. USA vs. Sweden (top 10 teams + Swedish manager used to oversee the US)
        3. France vs. England (group winner decider + France is technically pleasing if used to watching men play)
        4. Germany vs Norway (probably the oldest rivalry in women’s football)
        5. Canada vs NZ (Herdman was hired away from NZ)
        6. Canada vs Netherlands (final group match & chance to see Holland’s up and coming Miedema)
        7. Brazil vs. Spain (Marta vs. up and coming Spanish & Vero)
8.) Sweden vs. Australia (top 10 teams & rematch of 2011 quarters)
        9. Japan vs Switzerland (World Champions vs up and coming Swiss)
10.) USA vs. Australia (top 10 teams)

The casual fan shouldn’t bother watching matches involving Thailand, Ecuador Ivory Coast & Costa Rica.
