TSN has announced that Toronto Rock lacrosse will return to TSN and TSN2 in 2012. TSN will broadcast two games, with an additional nine games on TSN2. Here is TSN’s press release.
TSN and TSN2 ring in the New Year with 11 games from the 2011 National Lacrosse League champion Toronto Rock. Live coverage begins with the team’s season opener as the Toronto Rock host the Calgary Roughnecks on Sunday, Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. ET on TSN. The action continues Saturday, Jan. 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET on TSN with the team taking on their cross-border rivals the Buffalo Bandits at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, New York (see complete broadcast schedule below).
All 11 Rock games will also be available live on TSN Mobile TV.
Dave Randorf handles play-by-play duties throughout the season alongside analyst Brian Shanahan, with Claude Feig reporting.
“Lacrosse is a truly engaging sport for fans to watch – last year’s dramatic final is a perfect example of the entertainment value the NLL offers,” said Shawn Redmond, Vice-President of Programming, TSN. “As the reigning champion Toronto Rock gears up for another dynamic season, we’re thrilled to go back to our country’s roots and have Canada’s national pastime featured once again on TSN, TSN2 and TSN Mobile TV.”
“I’m extremely excited to continue our relationship with TSN and TSN2,” said Toronto Rock President and Owner Jamie Dawick. “Making six home and five road games available to our fans across the country is great news for the Rock and great news for the sport.”
For the third consecutive season, fans across the country will be able to watch the team at home and on the road. Highlights from TSN and TSN2’s broadcast schedule include four all-Canadian match-ups along with games against the Rochester Knighthawks and Philadelphia Wings. Coverage also includes a highly-anticipated rematch of the 2011 Champion’s Cup Final on March 3 at 7 p.m. ET on TSN2, as the Washington Stealth return to the Air Canada Centre where they fell 8-7 to the Rock in last year’s thrilling title game.
French-language coverage of Toronto Rock games is available on RDS2 from January to April (see RDS.ca for full broadcast schedule).
