Alert: 2012 Winter Classic Moves to 3pm ET

Here is the statement from the National Hockey League.

The National Hockey League (NHL®) today announced that the 2012 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic will start at 3 p.m. ET (NBC,CBC,RDS). The game originally was scheduled for 1 p.m., ET. The revised start time decision was based on tomorrow’s weather forecast and should offer optimal game conditions for players and fans.

CBC’s coverage will begin at 2:30pm Eastern with the Hockey Tonight pre-game show. NBC will still come on the air at 1pm ET, with two hours of pre-game between 1 and 3.

Ron MacLean and Don Cherry will host CBC’s coverage. Jim Hughson will call the game with Craig Simpson and Glenn Healy. Elliotte Friedman will serve as a rinkside reporter. Bob Costas will host NBC’s broadcast with Mike Milbury and Jeremy Roenick. Mike Emrick, Ed Olczyk and Pierre McGuire will call the game on NBC.

I also expect NBC will introduce a new graphics package. Here is a sneak peak.

NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus) will also use these graphics on NHL broadcasts beginning tomorrow night.
