It was quite a Saturday in college football. My top two teams remain the same, but Stanford and Boise State both lost.
1. Louisiana State (SEC) – 10-0
2. Oklahoma State (Big 12) – 10-0
3. Alabama (SEC) – 9-1
4. Oregon (Pac-12) – 9-1
5. Arkansas (SEC) – 9-1
6. Oklahoma (Big 12) – 8-1
7. Stanford (Pac-12) – 9-1
8. Virginia Tech (ACC) – 9-1
9. Houston (C-USA) – 10-0
10. Boise State (MWC) – 8-1
11. Clemson (ACC) – 9-1
12. Georgia (SEC) – 8-2
13. Michigan State (Big Ten) – 8-2
14. South Carolina (SEC) – 8-2
15. Wisconsin (Big Ten) – 8-2
16. Nebraska (Big Ten) – 8-2
17. Kansas State (Big 12) – 8-2
18. Texas Christian (MWC) – 8-2
19. Penn State (Big Ten) – 8-2
20. Michigan (Big Ten) – 8-2
21. Southern Miss (C-USA) – 8-1
22. Baylor (Big 12) – 6-3
23. Auburn (SEC) – 6-4
24. Notre Dame – 7-3
25. Florida State (ACC) – 7-3
No way Auburn should still be in there. Yeah I know, their schedule has been tough, but a 6-4 team shouldn’t be in Top 25 regardless. USC should be in their instead.
Otherwise, I agree. Except maybe Clemson should be ahead of Boise State.
I just don’t bother with USC since they can’t make a bowl game. If I were to rank them, they’d be about 20th. The other team I was considering for the top 25 was Texas. Both Auburn and Texas lost this week, and I think Auburn is better than Texas.
If Clemson can beat South Carolina, they will move up quite a bit (past Boise, Houston, Virginia Tech).
If I had a vote, Boise wouldn’t even be in the top 10. Having a soft schedule and losing to TCU maybe puts them at #20, and that’s being generous.
Their win against Georgia (in Atlanta at that) still means something, to me at least. TCU were a BCS team last sure. Sure they have a new QB, and haven’t been great this season, but they are still a quality team.
Agreed, but having only two “quality” opponents all year does not make a team a BCS contender. That’s why we’ll be seeing them at the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.
Well Houston (or Southern Miss if they win out) will probably make the BCS with a weaker schedule.
