The final of the Football League Cup will be on Sunday afternoon live from Wembley Stadium in London. Coverage will be live on Setanta Sports in Canada as Arsenal take on Birmingham City. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger stated the other day that he believes his team can win four titles this spring (League Cup, FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League), but in order to win the quad, Arsenal will need to come through against the Blues on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal have previously won the League Cup on two occasions, 1987 and 1993. Birmingham City hasn’t won the League Cup since 1963, when the final was played over two legs. That season they beat their Second City rivals Aston Villa.
Coverage of the 2011 Football League Cup final between Arsenal and Birmingham City will air Sunday from 10:55am ET on Setanta Sports Canada. For those wondering, BBC will have coverage in the United Kingdom with commentary from Guy Mowbray and Mark Lawrenson. Unfortunately that coverage isn’t available in Canada, but I consider Mowbray one of the best football commentators in the world.
