2014 Winter Olympics Competition Schedule

with 21 comments

It seems there are not many good schedule for the 2014 Olympics available which include times for North America. So to save you the time, here is a sport-by-sport schedule. If time permits, I may also post a daily schedule closer to the start of the Games. I have included Canadian broadcast information. The 2014 Olympics are available on CBC, NBC, TSN, TSN2, Sportsnet and Sportsnet ONE in Canada.

All times are Eastern Standard (GMT-5). I had to convert all times from local Sochi time myself, so if you notice any mistakes, let me know. Any events starting at “midnight” means the start of a new day. So a curling draw at midnight on February 10, means its on February 9 in primetime for those on the west coast.

Schedule and broadcast info is subject to change. And remember if you are setting your PVR, be sure to add extra time at the end as for a number of reasons events can run long.

  1. Based on the timings for Canada’s preliminary games, could it be assumed that the Qualification Playoff/ Quarterfinal or Semi-final that Canada (Men’s Hockey Team) would be playing at 12pm EST??

    • I’d say so, unless we play Russia in any of those. It seems like Russia wants afternoon local starts, so they’ll probably get the 7:00/7:30 games.

  2. Surely as you said this is not the full schedule. I suspect that every canadian curling game will be shown on TV

    • Yes they will be. As will almost every other event at the Games. Only RDS and TVA Sports have released their full schedules.

  4. The time difference between Pacific time and Sochi is 12 hours. It is easier to convert the time difference that way. If possible, have both Pacific and Eastern times.

    • Lucky for you guys! I just don’t have time to do anything more than add the networks in, really.

      • Yes, we are lucky. I also heard on Sportsnet (eastern announcers) or TSN about the easy time conversion for those in the Pacific timezone. I forget who it was, but, he or she said just switch AM and PM around and then add 3 hours for eastern time.

        • you minus 3 hours and switch AM and PM around – there is 9 hours difference

          • Going to Pacific time first is easier.

  5. Just a suggestion, maybe it would be better if you put the French sports station as TVA Sports since TVA by itself refers to the TVA station.

  6. I noticed the 4th qualification playoff for men’s hockey is not being televised. Will events such as these be streamed online without commentary?

    Calvin

    28 January, 2014 at 10:29pm

    • Yes, possibly even with commentary. CBC’s press release from a few weeks back is a bit vague on that. I find it odd that the game isn’t on TV considering neither SN nor TSN2 have programming in that timeslot. And SN only has a possible curling tiebreaker.

  7. That could very well change. Too bad I said TVA Sports will broadcast everything on the TV side of things,
like all the hockey games. But I do think the CBC Consortium will show everything as far as hockey goes.

The CBC-led Sochi 2014 TV guide is now up today for the English language coverage with TSN, TSN2, Rogers Sportsnet, and SN ONE!
